Sega Announces SatCast Emulator
News Contributed By: Patrick Klepek
Tuesday, 9th of March, 1999
Reported by Magic Box, we can now bring confirmation that Sega has confessed to be creating an emulator that allows the Dreamcast to play Sega Saturn games. Most likely this is an effort to combat the recent announcement by Sony to have their PlayStation 2 support backwards compatibility with the original PlayStation.
No only will the SatCast emulator allow gamers to play their Saturn games on the Dreamcast, it will also enhance how they will run by using better filters to clean up the textures a little bit. It's also rumored that the player will have customization of such things as resolution and frame rate.
Also reported by Magic Box is that the SatCast will go on sale sometime this summer for a price of about 3,300 yen.
An official press release concerning the SatCast should be issued by Sega soon enough and we may even see the emulator at this year's Tokyo Game Show coming up in a few weeks. Keep close to Dreamcast.Net as we learn more about this interesting story.

Q: I heard that Sega was going to make a "Satcast" to allow Saturn
games to be played on a Dreamcast. Is this true?
A: No. It's a lie/rumor started by a video game web site as an April
Fool's joke. Sadly, many people were gullible and swallowed this joke
as the real thing. All stories of backwards compatibility on the
Dreamcast are false. There is no such thing as a Satcast, there will
never be such a thing as a Satcast, and anyone who believes or hopes in
such a program or hardware will only wait in vain.
